DILIM is a small woman-owned, Filipino-owned independent press working to elevate Philippines-based and Filipino diaspora writers. From mythic pasts, unseen futures, and the subterranean spaces in between, our anthologies feature emerging, debut, and established Pinoy authors and poets.
We’re looking for stories that take risks—the kind that stay with you long after you close the book.

DILIM, pronounced DEE-lim, generally means "dark" in the Filipino language; however, our meaning is more about obscurity and a total absence of light. We use this word, a strong word, to challenge each of our authors to shine their own light.

We publish speculative fiction, dark fiction, magical realism, horror, science fiction, mystery, supernatural, hopepunk, urban fantasy, and experimental/cross-genre work. We are dedicated to creating a home for writers of Filipino heritage from around the globe, as well as stories deeply rooted in diaspora perspectives and speculative lore.
We originally considered the word "Lilim" which connotates more about shadow, shade, or twilight. In the end the word DILIM is both an understanding of nighttime and the healing, regenerative powers of sleep (many of our authors report writing stories and poems from ideas in dreams), as well as an reclamation of all sides of human nature, even the darkest ones.
